The Blueprint to Achieve Massive Goals (Even With a Full-Time Job)

I have always wanted to achieve BIG things in life.

And I have always had so many hobbies and creative interests that I want to pursue.

BUT…

I struggled for years and years with motivation, and I would beat myself up for not actually doing the things I envisioned myself doing.

I would always be able to get out of bed and get sh*t done for my uni work and later in life my day job, but it always remained a challenge to get out of my warm cosy bed to go and work towards my dreams.

Simply getting enough rest left me feeling like I had NO TIME.

I would occasionally have little moments of inspiration and motivation that would propel me forward, but they would be fleeting. And ultimately, nothing would change.

That is until I discovered how to rewire my brain…
So that I would CREATE TIME, even if it seemed like I had none.

But why is it so important to make time to pursue a hobby or passion project?

Why go through all of this pain in the first place?

  1. So you feel a sense of purpose in your life (a reason for living)

  2. So you feel like you are learning and progressing at something (boosting self-esteem and confidence)

  3. So you feel in control of your life (by spending time doing something for yourself and not your employer)

  4. So you can eventually do what you ENJOY for a LIVING (when your PASSION BECOMES your source of INCOME)

If you don’t find a way to create time towards your vision, your goal for the future…

YOU WILL SUFFER.

‘Man is by nature a goal-striving being. And because man is “built that way,” he is not happy unless he is functioning as he was made to function—as a goal striver.’

Maxwell Maltz

By not aligning our actions with our vision for the future we cause ourselves physical and mental pain. This is an unavoidable mechanism in our biology.

Therefore…

Getting out of bed at 5AM, or crazy o’clock in the morning for your day job, but not for yourself on your days off, means someone else has more control over your time than you do (unless you already love your day job!).

This is BAD.

Your time is what you use to build your future, but if your employer owns it all, you will never move towards your goal, so you will always feel unhappy.

You NEED to make a CHOICE.

Choose wisely. Otherwise, years of your life will whizz by, and nothing will change…

You will look back and regret never trying to fulfil that dream…

Of course, adequate sleep is just as essential to happiness and health as purpose is!

But if you rewire your brain properly, you can do this without losing sleep!

You will start making time where you thought there was one.

But first I want to reiterate:

Choose purpose. Choose progress. Choose Happiness.

  1. When you make progress towards a meaningful goal it will make you happier because human beings are naturally goal-striving creatures (you are living in alignment with your nature).

  2. Being happier will improve your health both directly and indirectly. Directly because stress is very bad for you and indirectly because you are less likely to indulge in mind-numbing addictions like eating junk food.

  3. If you are happier your relationships and confidence will improve.

  4. You could potentially turn your PASSION INTO PROFITS with patience and consistency.

So, how do we actually rewire our brain?

Your subconscious mind is like a computer system that runs constantly in the background to help you achieve goals.

For example, when you have the goal of making a shopping list, your subconscious whirrs away and pops out thoughts and ideas that need to be on your list.

We are going to use this mechanism to our advantage. At the moment it is working AGAINST YOU!

  • If you don’t reprogram your subconscious mind you will continue to repeat your current pattern - giving all of your time and energy to the job that you hate…

  • Because you currently have a subconscious goal of doing your day job until you die.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open your mind. Right now the idea of committing to your passion might be scary. But if we want to change our lives we need to open to a new way of living. Turn your fear into curiosity and excitement.

  2. Make daily 1-hour time slots for your passion project (mornings are always better because then it can never be procrastinated):

    1. Does getting up an hour earlier on work days to pursue your passions still allow you to get 8 hours of sleep? Is that a realistic goal for your situation? If not, schedule 1-hour on an evening every night after your day job.

    2. Schedule 1-hour minimum each morning on your days off. Make it early before plans and responsibilities have time to get in the way!

3. Select a meaningful goal. Make it clear. Measurable and Time Bound (e.g. lose 5lbs in 30 days).

4. Write this goal down and put this somewhere you can see it multiple times per day. This could be on your phone screen and a note next to your bed (obsess over it).

5. Every night as you are falling asleep imagine yourself achieving the goal in your mind's eye and focus on how good it will feel when you do. (You can also do this whenever you get a spare moment throughout the day).

Your subconscious will now begin to recognise that this is your goal and it will start slowly altering your thoughts and behaviour to help you attain this goal.

When it once took discipline to get out of bed, you will now WANT TO because your subconscious feeds you thoughts like: “I can’t wait to work on my project”

And naturally, you will get up and do it…
